Iran & Azerbaijan Agreed To Build Atarachai Bridge

It was agreed over the phone by the head of the Iran-Azerbaijan Joint Economic Committee that the Astarachay Bridge would be constructed and functioning in four months.

The groundbreaking ceremony of the AstaraChai Border Bridge was taken place on 25 January 2022 in the presence of Shahin Mustafayev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Rostam Ghasemi, Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran.

The Islamic Republic of Iran's Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mehrdad Bazrpash urged the progress of relations between the two nations during a phone discussion with Azerbaijan's Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev on Sunday.

Mentioning the recent meeting in the Iranian border city of Astara, Mustafayev expressed gratitude for the regular hosting of the high-level conference and relayed a message to Azerbaijan's President regarding the meeting's relevance and efficacy.

The two sides stressed the need to proceed swiftly toward the Khoda Afarin power plant's initial opening.

He also asked Iran's Minister of Roads to visit Azerbaijan in order to strengthen relations between Tehran and Baku.

The Atarachai Bridge, with a length of 89 meters and a width of 30 meters, is planned to connect the two nations' international transit road (the Baku-Rasht-Kazvin highway).

According to the agreement, building the road bridge was to be completed by the end of 2022.
