Clash Between SDF & Syrian Rebels Claimed 136 Lives

Damascus, Syria—(Daily  Post)- The UK-based  Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said on Friday that up to 136 people had been killed in a clash between Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Turkish-backed rebels.  The Observatory reported that clashes between the SDF and rebels also claimed the lives of 20 innocent people.  Heavy armament and Turkish drone assistance have been applied in a conflict, which is focused on significant locations such as the Tishrin Dam and the Qaraqozak Bridge. Both sides claim gains. 35 SDF soldiers, 81 members of a Turkish-backed militia, and 20 civilians, including a Turkish journalist and two children, were killed in the crossfire in 15 days, according to SOHR. US troops have set up a temporary outpost in northern and eastern Syria to discuss and ease conflict.

US Revokes $10 Million Bounty For Detention Of Syrian New Leader

The United States $10 million prize for detention of Ahmed al-Sharaa, also known as Abu Mohammed al-Jolani, the Rebel leader who led the rebellion against President Bashar al-Assad, has been scrapped. A high-level diplomat confirmed that the US is suspending a $10 million bounty for the arrest of Syria's new leader, Ahmed al-Sharaa, following an uprising that ousted President Bashar al-Assad. The statement came after Barbara Leaf, the US's senior diplomat for the Middle East, met Ahmed al-Sharaa in Damascus, the first time U.S. officials have visited Syria's capital since the start of the civil conflict.  In a digital briefing to journalists on Friday, Barbara A. Leaf, assistant secretary of state for near eastern affairs, said that the decision to forgo the prize on Hayat Tahrir al-Sham commander Sharaa is a "policy decision" taken as Washington starts its engagement with the rebel group.

Russia Has Granted Asylum To Former Syrian President Assad & His Family

D amascus, Syria —  (Daily Post)  -  Russia has granted asylum to Bashar Assad, the former president of Syria, and his family on humanitarian grounds, according to a Kremlin security source. A Kremlin security source said Assad and his family arrived in Moscow on Sunday and were given asylum.  Additionally, it explained that Russia had given them refuge based on humanitarian grounds. RIA Novosti, a Russian state-run news agency, also confirmed that Asad and his family arrived in Moscow yesterday.  Al-Assad, who resigned after armed groups presently serving as Syria's transitional government forces took over Damascus on Sunday, had reportedly moved to Moscow with his family, according to reputable sources quoted by Russia's Vesti Nedelya news agency.

Asad & Erdogan Likely To Meet In Third Country

Iraq has offered to serve as a mediator in a historic restart of ties between the Bashar al-Assad government and Turkey A potential meeting between Asad and Erdogan is expected to take place in a third country, the Turkish FM reported in a statement on Thursday. The Turkish foreign minister, Fidan underlined that al-Assad is willing to meet with Erdogan without any constraints, telling the Sabah newspaper, "If the meeting takes place, it will be held in a third country, but there are no details so far." The goal of the meeting would be to restore ruptured relationships and reestablish them as they were before 2011.  Even though Turkey is getting substantial financial assistance from the US and the EU, the country's tremendous refugee population has become a difficult issue, increasing political pressure and general anger. Putin & Assad Met In Moscow

According to the Russian media, the meeting between Asad and Putin happened on Wednesday.  Restoring relations between Damascus and Ankara might be one of the topics of conversation.  A few weeks ago Erdogan said: "Now we have reached such a point that as soon as Bashar al-Assad takes a step towards mending relations with Turkey, we will replicate the same approach.  Erdogan's initial support for rebel groups against Assad in 2011 led to dire relations between the two presidents, who both have said that they are prepared to fix them. Following President Bashar al-Assad's battle with rebels in March 2011, Syria's membership in the Arab League was revoked and then reinstated on July 6, 2023.  Recep Tayyip Erdo ğ an has extended a hand of friendship to President Bashar al-Assad, realizing that Asad is no longer alone.
