Deadly Stampede Kills Dozens Children In Nigeria

  ABUJA, Nigeria  — (Daily Post) - At least 35 children were killed and six more were severely wounded in an audience stampede at a school festival in Nigeria. The heartbreaking incident took place in Ibadan, Nigeria's third-largest city. Eight people have reportedly been arrested by police "for their involvement" in this incident.  The main sponsor of the event, which was organized by the Wings Foundation and Agidigbo FM radio, was among those arrested on Wednesday at the Basorun Islamic High School. Videos and footage that appeared to be from the scene showed a large crowd of large children seeing others being carried away from an open field. Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo State, sent condolences to the families of the victims. Our sympathies and prayers are still with the families and loved ones affected by this terrible incident. Nigeria - School Building Collapsed; Leaving 52 Dead & Wounded

According to media reports, around 22 pupils aged 14 to 15 were pronounced dead after a school building collapsed in Plateau State on Friday.  A double-story school building packed with 54 children collapsed in Plateau state, triggering an incident. The school administration claimed that 154 kids were trapped beneath the rubble, while police confirmed that 132 of them had been rescued and were receiving medical treatment. The police chief has verified that 22 students have died, according to the Associate Press.  At least twelve students died previously reported by Nigerian media. Rescue men and townspeople worked together to extract a trapped student from the ruins of the collapsed school building. 

Dozens Of Nigerians Killed In Gun Violence

ABUJA,  Nigeria  —  At least 34 people, including seven soldiers, were killed in a bandits attack in Nigeria's northwestern state of Zamfara,  vigilante chairman and villagers said.  Deadly gun violence erupted in the village of Dan Gulbi in Maru province on Monday afternoon, local sources told Reuters news agency.  One of the eyewitnesses stated that "27 villagers died in the attack while seven soldiers were ambushed on their way to assist the victims of the attack."  The Zamfara state police did not immediately reply to calls seeking evidence of the incident people said.  Since the last 3 years, gangs of highly trained bandits have wreaked havoc across Nigeria's northwest, kidnapping thousands, murdering hundreds, and making it hazardous to travel by road in certain places.  When unknown terrorists attacked the convoy in late May 2023, they brutally killed 4 members of the US Embassy in Nigeria and kidnapped 3 others in Anambra state....
