Bilawal Bhutto, chairman of PPP sworn in as a federal minister

Islamabad,(Daily Post). Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, the son of former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, was sworn in as a federal minister on Wednesday and is expected to be appointed as Pakistan's foreign minister.

During a ceremony at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, President Arif Alvi delivered the oath to Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, which was also attended by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and former president Asif Ali Zardari and Asifa Bibi.



After the PPP Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting on Tuesday, party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari confirmed that he would be sworn in as federal minister on Wednesday. 



Earlier this month, 31 federal and three state ministers were sworn in in Islamabad. 

On April 19, the oath-taking ceremony was held in Islamabad to appoint new ministers.

Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani sworn-in federal ministers and state ministers.

Shahbaz also appointed three advisers, bringing the total number of government members to 37. 

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's maternal grandfather was a barrister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, a Pakistani lawyer, and politician who served as the country's prime minister from 1973 to 1977. 

Zulfi also served as foreign minister as well as commerce minister in 1963.

Afghanistan, (Daily Post). Insurgents attacked two vans in the northern Afghan city of Mazar-e-Sharif on Thursday, killing at least nine people. "The bombs were installed inside the vans; as a result of those blasts, nine people were killed and 13 were injured," Mohammad Asif Waziri, the commander of Mazar-e-Sharif, said.  The local Shi'ite community operated and used the public transportation vans, he added.  The Shiite Muslim Hazara community, a minority Muslim sect in Afghanistan, is often attacked by armed groups, including the Islamic State.  The Taliban, who seized power following NATO's withdrawal, claimed earlier this week that they had eliminated the majority of the Islamic State's presence in Afghanistan.  Despite the Taliban claims, attacks on Shia Muslims continue in many parts of the country.

Bus Accident In Turkey Claimed Nine lives

TURKEY  —  A bus slammed into an overhead bridge's pillar, killing at least 9 and leaving 26 others injured.  The incident occurred on Friday, killing nine passengers on board and wounding at least 26, according to the province governor. The tragedy occurred when the bus departed from Izmir in western Turkey for Agri in the country's east, authorities said. The injured passengers were transported to hospitals in Ankara and Polatli, but there was no information available regarding their current condition. According to the state-run Anadolu Agency, a deputy chief attorney was tasked with conducting an inquiry into the crash's cause, which resulted in the closure of one side of the road.

Pagers Explosions Claimed 11 Lives, Left Thousands Wounded In Lebanon

According to the Health Minister's announcement, pager explosions in several parts of Lebanon brought about up to 11 deaths including a 7-year-old girl, and over 2,700 injuries.  Lebanese Health Minister Firas Abiad further said that around 200 other serious injured were admitted to various hospitals.  The incident  report was first televised by Lebanon's state-run TV. Hundreds of Pagers were detonated as a result of an Israeli cyber attack, killing and injuring many people across Lebanon, including the south, Bekaa, and Beirut.  Ziad Makary, the Lebanese Minister of Information, addressed the conference, emphasizing that the government condemns the Israeli attack and that the world community is also responsible for it.  The world community's passive stance toward Israeli atrocities encouraged such attacks.
