AMERICA, Washington DC — Officials say ten people died in mass shootings in Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Fort Worth before the weekend of July 4, highlighting the United States' decades-long struggle to control gun bloodshed.
As reported by authorities, a mass shooting during a local
event in Fort Worth, Texas, killed three people and wounded eight more.
Another shooting took place in Philadelphia on Monday night,
killing five people and injuring two more when a suspect wearing a bullet-proof
suit opened fire on an unidentified person, according to local authorities.
Among the injured were a toddler and a teenager.
The incident on Monday night occurred the day after an
outburst of gunfire at an outdoor gathering in Baltimore, Maryland left two
people dead and 28 wounded, nearly half of them children.
There was no clear clue as to the motives of the three shooters. At a
late-night news conference,
Philadelphia Police Chief Daniel Outlaw said his department had arrested a suspect, a 40-year-old man, and that "we have absolutely no idea why this happened." Fort Worth Police said no arrests had been made.
