During an interview with a foreign policy magazine Josep Borrell
Fontanelles, a Spanish politician who has been serving as the Union's High
Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy since 2019, said that Europe will
not recognize Taiwan as a country.
Furthermore, he said that Europe needs to realize that breaking
China through military conflict is not possible.
Concern about the self-governing island (Taiwan), which Beijing
considers an integral part of China, is growing as the US maintains diplomatic
links with Taiwan's government and supplies it with defensive weapons,
according to RR.
Borrell told the media publication "We remain
consistent in our belief that there is no military solution to the problem, and tensions between China and US over Taiwan must be decreased.
The EU does not have formal diplomatic relations with Taiwan,
despite the two countries having prosperous trading connections and similar
democratic ideals.
Taiwan is viewed by the European Union as an active democracy, a partner with similar values, an open and dynamic economy, a desirable place to invest, and an unparalleled manufacturer of cutting-edge technology that powers the contemporary world.
Reiterating Pakistan's unshakable support for the One China Principle and his strong opposition to "Taiwan Independence," President Mr: Asif Ali Zardari also highlights Pakistan's solidarity with China.
