Five Indian troops died after their tank sank in the
river while crossing the lake near the Chinese border.
The authorities in the Ladakh region claimed on Saturday
that five Indian troops were killed after their tank sank while crossing a
river in the Ladakh area, which borders China.
The newly created administrative division, Ladakh,
comprises two administrative districts, Leh and Kargil with about 274,289
population per the 2011 census, and division headquarters at Leh
district.

incident "disappointing".
India and China have been at odds in the region, with
widespread worry that the issue might escalate into a larger confrontation.
Along the China-Indian border, particularly between the
disputed Pangong Lake in Ladakh and China's Tibet Autonomous Region and along
the boundary between Sikkim and the Tibet Autonomous Region, Chinese and Indian
forces began engaging in aggressive clashes, face-offs, and skirmishes on May
5, 2020.
Twenty Indian soldiers and an unknown number of Chinese
military personnel were killed in an armed conflict in the Galwan Valley region
in June 2020.
There were also other conflicts along the Line of Actual
Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh.
