ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — (Daily Post) - More than 55
people were killed and 22 injured when gunmen opened fire
on passenger vehicles carrying Shiite citizens in northwest Pakistan on
Thursday.
The militants attacked the vehicles in
Kurram, a district in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, that borders Afghanistan
and has experienced fatal sectarian clashes in recent years.
According to Interior Minister Mohsin
Naqvi, terrorists opened fire on a convoy traveling from Parachinar to
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's capital, Peshawar.
After the horrific tragedy, Naqvi spoke
with Ali Amin Gandapur, the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, who has been
striving to resolve the sectarian violence that has cost hundreds of Pakistani
lives this calendar year.
As of right now, no group has taken responsibility for the shooting.
Gandapur, KPK's Chief Minister, expressed
condolences to the deceased families and pledged financial help for the
victims' relatives.
Security personnel, as well as the federal
and provincial governments, have failed completely in saving innocent lives.

war has to face various challenges from inside and outside of the
country.

fighting against the Pakistan armed forces are Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP),
