Post). During a religious procession at a temple in Tamil Nadu, southern India,
at least 11 people were killed and 15 others were injured.
According
to police, the accident occurred when a vehicle collided
with a high transmission power line in the Thanjavur district.
A local
Hindu had organized the temple parade.
According
to an Indian newspaper, electrical sparks caused a truck full of devotees to
catch fire.
Two
children were among the dead. According to authorities, some of the injured
were conveyed to the hospital.

was created and the police opened an investigation.

Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, also offered his sympathies and
declared that the families of those killed in the mishap would be compensated
with 500,000 rupees each.
Prime
Minister Narendra Modi expressed his "deep grief" over the incident.
"In this time of grief, my sympathies are with the relatives of the victims."
"I
hope those who have been injured recover quickly," Modi's office said on
Twitter.
