New York,(Daily Post). A Mercy Flight air ambulance crashed during a test flight in New York, killing two people.
Mercy Flight Air Ambulance helicopter crashed near Elba, New York on Tuesday afternoon, killing two people.
According to the New York State Police, troops were dispatched to the crash site near Norton Road in Genesee County at 1 p.m.
The police reported that the plane hit electrical wires while descending, but they do not believe this is the cause of the incident.
"We do not know why the helicopter went down at the moment," Major Eugene Staneshevsky told a news conference near the crash site on Tuesday afternoon.
The accident is currently being investigated by police.
As per local authorities, they are investigating whether anyone else was injured as a result of the incident.
The investigation could last a month or longer.
The chopper's engine is thought to have failed at the time of the mishap.
