As per Eurostat figures, Germany purchased 69,737 tonnes of crude oil or petroleum products from Iran in early March this year for the first time in five years.
Eurostat is a Directorate-General of the European Commission located in the Kirchberg quarter of Luxembourg City, Luxembourg.
Despite the fact that the US government has not modified its illegal sanctions against Iran, this amount of Iranian oil is bought from European countries.
EU sanctions on Iran are also in effect.
Bulgaria, another member of the European Union, purchased 147 tonnes of
crude oil or petroleum.
According to the European Statistics Centre, Germany purchased considerable
amounts of oil from Iran for the first time in five years in 2018.
