BAGHDAD,IRAQ — Five ISIL militants were allegedly killed near Kirkuk on Friday, according to the Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service.
violent clashes between ISIL & Iraqi forces resulted in the deaths of 5 terrorists from the Daesh terrorist group.
Intelligence-based operation in Kirkuk Province's Dibbs District toward Al-Tun Bridge was conducted on directives of the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Mohammed al-Sudani, and supervised by Lieutenant General Abdul Wahab Al-Saadi.
The statement said: "The anti-terrorist service continues to carry out special operations with the highest level of professionalism throughout the country.
"ISIS, which invaded Iraq on June 7, 2014, and briefly controlled about 45% of its territory, was defeated in November 2017; Since then, however, the remaining ISIS members have continued to live and operate in Iraq and Syria, sometimes engaging in terrorism.
Iraqi security forces continue to search for, purge, and pursue
ISIS across the country to ensure ISIS and its defectors do not reappear.
