Authorities in Russia said that
after Ukraine's aerial assaults on Belgorod, 21 people were killed and over
100 were injured.
3 children were among the dead, according to the local government, in one of the bloodiest attacks since the conflict started.
According to a source close to the Russian Investigative Committee, missiles fired from numerous launchers in Ukraine's Kharkiv region damaged a skating rink on the major Cathedral Square, a shopping complex, and residential structures.
The daily Kommersant reported this information.
Moscow accused its neighbor of
using a variety of weapons, including Czech-made Vampire rockets and Ukrainian
Olkha missiles, to launch the attack on Saturday.
Vladimir Putin was briefed about the attacks, according to his spokesperson.
On Russia's request, the
UN Security Council will meet in New York at 16:00 local time (21:00 GMT).
The Russian defense
ministry previously stated that 13 missiles were destroyed over the greater
Belgorod region, while 32 drones were shot down in the Bryansk, Oryol, Kursk,
and Moscow regions.
