The friendly fire cost the lives of 5 Israeli troops on Wednesday in Jabalya, in the northern Gaza Strip, and injured 7 others.
Two tanks opened fire on the front battalion headquarters, triggering the
incident.
Junior commissioned officer Roy Beit Yaakov, 22, of Eli; Sgt. Daniel Chemu, 20,
of Tiberias; Sgt. Ilan Cohen, 20, of Karmiel; Staff Sgt. Gilad Arye Boim, 22,
of Karnei Shomron; and Staff Sgt. Betzalel David Shashuah, 21, of Tel Aviv,
were the five soldiers who lost their lives on Wednesday.
They were all members of the ultra-Orthodox Hetz company
of Battalion 202 in the Paratroopers Brigade.
