As per the Police Chief's report, at least 35 innocent people were killed and 15 sustained severe burns in a building inferno incident.
Early on Wednesday, state-run media reported that a fire had broken
out at a building in Mangaf, southern Kuwait, that housed workers.
The inferno was put out instantly when it started traveling in a heavily populated workers' apartment.
A large number of people were evacuated and the majority of deaths were caused by breathing in smoke while residents were sleeping.
After a search of the premises by forensic specialists, the interior ministry updated the death toll to 49 from 35.
A fire broke out at 4:35 in the morning when victims were
sleeping.
After conducting a preliminary investigation, the authorities
apprehended the company officials and building guards for their criminal
negligence.
