A cargo train smashed into the back of a resting passenger train in India's West Bengal state on Monday morning, killing at least 15 people and injuring scores, according to investigators, Railway officials blamed the disaster on negligent driving.
The police department said that over 2 dozen more persons were hurt in the tragic incident in the Darjeeling district.
The Kanchanjunga Express got stuck in an accident while traveling from the northeastern city of Agartala to Kolkata, West Bengal's capital.
The incident
caused three passenger train carriages to derail.
PM Narendra Modi declared that the relatives of the deceased would get £1890 in compensation, while the injured would receive £472.
