Roaring landslides in the southern Indian state of Kerala have
killed at least 93 people, provincial officials said Tuesday.
Multiple landslides have trapped hundreds more people, and
extensive search and rescue efforts have begun in Wayanad rural district in
Kerala state to find and rescue those who have been stuck.
According to the officials' press conference, rescue operations
are hampered by heavy rains and the collapse of a significant road
bridge.
Authorities have also reported that around seventy injured people
are receiving adequate care in hospitals and that rescuers have saved more than a hundred lives.
The Indian government officials did not immediately reveal any
other information about the deceased, such as their names or identities.
