At least 40 villagers were killed in a paramilitary assault in central Sudan
According to a local resistance movement, at
least 40 villagers were killed on Sunday when the paramilitary Rapid Support
Forces (RSF) attacked a hamlet in central Sudan.
Non-governmental Abu Gouta Resistance
Committee, told media outlets that at least 40 villagers were killed in an RSF
attack on Gouz Al-Naqa village of Abu Gouta area in Gezira State."
The committee requested that civil society
groups exert pressure on the RSF to grant local inhabitants access to bury the
deceased.
Since the attack, the RSF has not yet released
any statement.
In a June 2024 attack, Rapid Support Forces
(RSF) massacred around 100 people in the village of Wad al-Noura in Gezira
state.
Since the fight began on April 15, 2023, about
15,500 people have died and more than 8.2 million have been affected.
