A key leader of the Palestinian resistance group Hamas, Sheikh Hassan Youssef, was imprisoned by Israel for 20 months.  According to the Palestine Information Center, the Palestinian Commission for the Affairs of Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners announced on Sunday the release of Sheikh Youssef from the Israeli prison in the occupied West Bank.  Youssef was arrested 20 times and spent a total of 24 years in Israeli prisons, most of them under the occupation regime's arbitrary and brutal administrative detention policy, which allows the occupation regime to detain Palestinians indefinitely without formal charges or bringing them to trial.  Sheikh Youssef was taken imprisoned on December 13, 2021, when Israeli government troops barged into his home in Beituniya, a hamlet west of occupied Ramallah.  Youssef made it clear in a statement that he will continue to battle to protect the Al-Aqsa Mosque site and the occupied city of Al-Quds after being freed. A date for a meeting between the presidents of Syria and Turkey has been scheduled by Russia's special presidential envoy in Syria, who said that significant effort is being made to improve relations between the two countries.  This was discussed by Alexander Lavrentiev in an interview with Al Arabiya. South Africa, CAPE TOWN ―  A gas leak in a South African slum near Johannesburg on Thursday killed at least 16 people, including children, according to emergency services, which revised the death toll after several people were resuscitated.  The accident, which occurred Wednesday night in the informal town of Angelo, in the Boksburg region to the east of Johannesburg, is thought to have been caused by illicit mining activity. "We currently have 16 persons at the site whose deaths have been verified. According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), at least three soldiers were martyred in the North Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday when a suicide bomber blew himself up in a car. ISLAMABAD, Pakistan —  As per the military official source, a suicide bomber attacked a checkpoint in Pakistan's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region, killing and wounding 14 people. local police officer said the suicide bombing took place near the Hamedullah Shaheed checkpoint on the Bannu-Miran Shah highway in the tribal region of North Waziristan near the Afghan border.  The suicide attack devastated the checkpoint, killing three members of the paramilitary Frontier Corps (FC) and a toddler and injuring ten civilians, he added. AMERICA, Washington DC  —  Officials say ten people died in mass shootings in Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Fort Worth before the weekend of July 4, highlighting the United States' decades-long struggle to control gun bloodshed.  As reported by authorities, a mass shooting during a local event in Fort Worth, Texas, killed three people and wounded eight more.  Another shooting took place in Philadelphia on Monday night, killing five people and injuring two more when a suspect wearing a bullet-proof suit opened fire on an unidentified person, according to local authorities. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas cut off communications and security cooperation with Israel on Monday after  Israel's massive military operation against Islamists in the West Bank city of Jenin, his office said in a statement.  Following the meeting with other Palestinian Authority leaders, Abbas made the decision.  During earlier rounds of conflict, Abbas has briefly severed coordination with Israel multiple times.  At least 9 Palestinians were martyred Monday earlier after Israel attacked a refugee camp in Jenin.  The Israeli military unleashed air and ground attacks on the Jenin refugee camp on Monday, hurting and killing dozens of Palestinians.  According to local residents, Israel carried out at least 10 airstrikes on Jenin late on Monday, causing fires to erupt from the remains of the destroyed buildings.
